stars and stripes(Arnold Melleby, 10.17.2020)

 the death of a dream

awoken by nightmares

will it ever come to life again

no one knows

mango madness

all year around

no way around it

came and went

divided we stand

with no tears to spare

if there ever was a care

the time is now

words of venom

blowing ears wide open

of the narrowness

to the clown in charge

stars and stripes

once ruling the sky

pushing the next generation

in front of the one before

to a common goal for all

to dream even longer and wider

stars and stripes

shine no more

words of venom

blowing ears wide open

of the narrowness

to the clown in charge

stars and stripes

once ruling the sky

pushing the next generation

in front of the one before

to a common goal for all

to dream even longer and wider

stars and stripes

shine no more

stars and stripes

polaroid(Arnold Melleby, 10.03.2020)

the camp fire burned out, alright

as did most of the ones around it

while it still burned

lessons learned

but, I don`t know

how to ajust

or who to trust

polaroid

pictures blurred over time

a shot of novocaine

a vague memory

could it be

polaroid

barefoot in the snow

on a steamy July morning

a seven day binge

that no one wrote home about

snorting up a storm

in the calmest weather

the world has ever seen

learning how to spell paranoia

in capital letters

over and over again

polaroid

pictures blurred over time

a shot of novocaine

a vague memory

could it be

polaroid

coming back

a picture at the time

hangin` loose

at the same spots

where we used

to walk the line

this time

without the fine

a vague memory

could it be
