shine moon(Arnold Melleby, 2007)

blooming in the middle of December

she’s sitting on my lap

as I’m trying to get to the bottom of her sin

driving through Arizona

driving myself insane

this world wasn’t made for us

the moon’s not big enough

to shine on both of us

I lie awake

staring at a moonlit sky

on the hood of my mustang

my ride of choice

as I travel through the valleys

as I travel through the deserts

I lie awake

thinking of you

shine

shine moon

shine on me

those honorary bells of commitment

only rang in my head

the solitary rings of forever

were both broken

long before they were ever made

I lie awake

staring at the moonlit sky

on the hood of my mustang

my ride of choice

as I travel through the valleys

as I travel through the deserts

I lie awake

thinking of you

shine

shine moon

shine on me

shine

shine moon

shine on me
