a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams(Arnold Melleby, 09.19.2024)

flood me

so I can come up, and breathe

wake up, morning star

the devil`s treat

comes through easy venom

a little bite

is all it takes

dressed in nothing but a cigarette

lit up by the moon

draped in a sky as it has never been seen

by others

apart from the ones

that ended up in a shallow grave

far away from Texas

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I am

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I have become

I ain`t no crowd-pleaser

but little do they know

I slowly died that night

they all went home

smiles on their faces

while I went back out

and let the devil in

always and forever

sounds great from afar

and impossible to unlove

I had time to kill

and you had a licence to thrill

leaving nothing to waste

you sure gave me a taste

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I am

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I have become

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I am

a lonesome flower in a field of other peoples dreams

is what I have become

I still feel that I should have the last word

I am here forever

everyone else

is here on borrowed time

next time you see a lonesome flower

on an open field

that flower

may be me
