patience, patience, patience(Arnold Melleby, 09.23.2018)

a good man
with a bad reputation
it`s coming my way
someone I used to know
came to testify
ruled the sky
and refused to die
as I come out of the light
I sing a lonely lulleby
to myself

Jesus` balls, man
here came a plan
that no one
chose to follow
doing nothing else
but a slow decay
no reason to stay
when you fall behind

the minute you came
walking through my door
I`ll tell you I love you
and do so
forevermore

I wish I could
sing you a lulleby
just like the ones
I live thorugh
every night
when you`re not here

if I was to default
it would all be your fault
my only assault
attacking your heart
to be one
to see as one

the village used to be
all you needed
I was there
I was the acheaver
who could never see
if it was over or under
that made the point be

bring out the dead
and marry a dwarf
the headlines read
a powerful dime
giving you
the time of your life
evaporating
in a Scarlet dream

to all the questions
you forgot to ask
all you risked to get
was a lie
silver bells
please spare the nasty spells
for someone else
someone that looks
a lot like you

like a fall
you could not take¨
like a fall
you could not make
into the abyss
only to come back
as the saint
you always were

bringing you back
to a time
when childhood
was banned
and all you could breathe
was the factory smog

it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long
it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long
it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long

and now
that the world shall burn
it would be nice to know
which way to turn
it said for viewing purposes only
and I did
only to find
they spelled it all wrong

thanking the hills
the mountains and sky
the best friends
I could ever have
a flat bay
on a shiny day
where is it all
going to end

the king and I
is kinda like a story
that sucks you in
in the beginning
and spits you out
in the end
and then the chorus repeats
and puts some more
salt in your wounds

while I`m waiting
I raise my glass
cheers to a life
wrapped in plastic

eleven wolves(Arnold Melleby, 09.16.2018)

a hairline crack
cutting through
the surface of a fragile soul

spitting on an open fire
there are a lot of people out there
like that for hire

your destiny took you there
while reality played hide and seek
you were never cheek to cheek

alone in someone elses castle
a dark shadow came to your door
and made you take the fall

in endless pain, retiring for the night
wolves were roaming your garden
refusing to leave
travelling far and beyond
to get to you
from the woods on the other side
crossing a grand canyon
trails, creeks and busy rivers
to get to you
in time

eleven wolves
forming a circle
around the spot on the lawn
where you made love
for the first and last time
so far in your life
eleven wolves
leading the way

your leaded glass bedroom window
staring wide open
at the full moon fever
ruling your precious garden of eden

the midwife cut the umbilical cord
carrying the child to the open window
to show your protectors
breaking the circle

emotional
to the point of madness
with nothing on this earth
to numb the pain
to numb he sadness

there was no cry
there was no rebel yell
stillborn in the night
the story ends
before it even started
just like only nature does it
at her cruelest

as the full moon
hid behind the only cloud
on the horizon
the wolves ran away
only, now
they were twelve

here`s to a story
disturbingly beautiful
just like you
and for the one that got to fly the skies
from day one
into forevermore

eleven wolves
led the way

-dedicated to the energy and reality of a story I was told,
a story that never left my consciousness

I stole a kiss(Arnold Melleby, 09.07.2018)

just like Madame Lazarene
holding her cards
close to her chest
in her foreverlasting quest
of claiming land
from the sea

a dying ember
resembling an important part
of you
your soul
what else could be
more real

although your eyes
are not welcome
anywhere around here
due to the fact
of what they are capable
of seeing

but, please sai hi
from the other side
you press the pedal
and there`s a red light
lighting up your tail
giving away
your trail

I stole a kiss
and left her
I flew away
just like the butterflies
in her eyes
I stole a kiss
and left her
to die

dearest feathers of mine
all the angels
seem to have flown away
as well
what do you say
now, that they`re all gone

there`s no way in hell
you`re going to heaven
bt your smile
I`ll carry with me
although your way of life
is killing me

or is this the perfect opportunity
to actually grow up and stop pretending
that I`ll never grow old
what have I done not to deserve this
come shame and ruthless judgement
but I blushed first

I stole a kiss
and left her
I flew away
just like the butterflies
in her eyes
I stole a kiss
and left her
to die

love always seem to lie low
whenever I`m around
only as a deeply hidden lie
it comes out
only to haunt me
forever more

I stole a kiss
and left her
I flew away
just like the butterflies
in her eyes
I stole a kiss
and left her
to die

time`s not standing still
I do

forever dawn(Arnold Melleby, 09.04.2018)

the marshlands
became your harshlands
you came in seeing
but walked out blind

trying to grab the spirit
as it flew up and away
from your fumbling hands
into a sky so far away

you rid the pain
and entered fame
for as long as the flame
remained the same

dawn
the one that never
seemed to end
is still here
in slow motion
the forever dawn

the marshlands
became your harshlands
you came in seeing
but walked out blind

trying to grab the spirit
as it flew up and away
from your fumbling hands
into a sky so far away

you rid the pain
and entered fame
for as long as the flame
remained the same

dawn
the one that never
seemed to end
is still here
in slow motion
the forever dawn

dawn
the one that never
seemed to end
is still here
in slow motion
the forever dawn

when will the day
ever begin
again
