patience, patience, patience(Arnold Melleby, 09.23.2018)

a good man
with a bad reputation
it`s coming my way
someone I used to know
came to testify
ruled the sky
and refused to die
as I come out of the light
I sing a lonely lulleby
to myself

Jesus` balls, man
here came a plan
that no one
chose to follow
doing nothing else
but a slow decay
no reason to stay
when you fall behind

the minute you came
walking through my door
I`ll tell you I love you
and do so
forevermore

I wish I could
sing you a lulleby
just like the ones
I live thorugh
every night
when you`re not here

if I was to default
it would all be your fault
my only assault
attacking your heart
to be one
to see as one

the village used to be
all you needed
I was there
I was the acheaver
who could never see
if it was over or under
that made the point be

bring out the dead
and marry a dwarf
the headlines read
a powerful dime
giving you
the time of your life
evaporating
in a Scarlet dream

to all the questions
you forgot to ask
all you risked to get
was a lie
silver bells
please spare the nasty spells
for someone else
someone that looks
a lot like you

like a fall
you could not take¨
like a fall
you could not make
into the abyss
only to come back
as the saint
you always were

bringing you back
to a time
when childhood
was banned
and all you could breathe
was the factory smog

it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long
it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long
it didn`t matter
it didn`t last that long

and now
that the world shall burn
it would be nice to know
which way to turn
it said for viewing purposes only
and I did
only to find
they spelled it all wrong

thanking the hills
the mountains and sky
the best friends
I could ever have
a flat bay
on a shiny day
where is it all
going to end

the king and I
is kinda like a story
that sucks you in
in the beginning
and spits you out
in the end
and then the chorus repeats
and puts some more
salt in your wounds

while I`m waiting
I raise my glass
cheers to a life
wrapped in plastic
